Cork is the second largest city in Ireland and it should definitely be on your list of places to visit! It's the kind of city that has a small-town charm with the vibe of a big city, you know?! Below, you'll find my suggestions on what to do in Cork in 2 days, how to get there, and some other tips!
In addition to being the second largest city in the country, it is the third in population, with approximately 210,000 inhabitants. Also, if you’re thinking about doing an exchange in Ireland, Cork is a good option because it has great schools and a lower cost of living (compared to Dublin).
Let's go to the list with suggestions on what to do in Cork in 2 days?!
How to get to Cork
Before I tell you what to do in Cork in 2 days, let me tell you how to get there! The city is located in the south of Ireland, in County Cork and the province of Munster.
From Dublin
Cork is 260 km from the capital, and by car, it takes about 3 hours. Besides driving, you can get to Cork by bus or train. If you choose to go by train, the company that operates the route is Irish Rail, and it will take you approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes.
If you prefer to go by bus, you will probably spend less and have more options of companies to choose from. Finally, if you don't have a car but prefer to make the trip independently without using public transport, you can rent one. Be sure to check out this post "TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR AND TRAVELING IN IRELAND", I’m sure it will help!
From Galway
Google Maps will give you some possible routes for driving from Galway to Cork. The shortest one is 205 km and can be done in about 2 hours and 45 minutes. In addition to driving, you can also make the trip by bus!

Leaving from Limerick
Limerick is very close to Cork, with only 100 km between the two cities. It takes about 90 minutes by car. There are also options to travel by bus or train.
No matter which city you’re leaving from, I believe driving is the best option for freedom and independence.
What to do in Cork in 2 days
In my opinion, 2 days is the minimum needed to explore the main attractions of Cork. It's possible to do it in one day, but it would be very rushed. If you have 3 or 4 days, I recommend touring the cities of the Ring of Kerry, which are beautiful too.
Blarney Castle
It’s one of the most visited castles in the country! Although it’s not located in Cork, it’s just 8 km from the city and should definitely be on your list of "things to do in Cork in 2 days"!
In addition to the castle, you can visit the gardens and the famous Blarney Stone. According to legend, anyone who kisses the stone gains the gift of eloquence.
It’s open every day of the year, except December 24th and 25th. The opening time is at 9:00 AM, and the closing time may vary depending on the month. From October to February, it closes at 5:00 PM, from March to April at 6:00 PM, and from June to September at 5:30 PM.
The ticket costs 16 euros if bought online. At the ticket office, the price is 18 euros.

English Market
The typical central market. Go there to eat some local products and get to know a bit more about the city's daily life.
The Butter Museum
The Butter Museum tells the story of butter in the world and also shows how it is made. And why does the city have this museum? Because it was once a major butter exporter. The entrance costs 4 euros.
Cork City Gaol
In fourth place on the list, we have Cork City Gaol, the city's former prison. The ticket costs 10 euros and includes a guidebook, or 12 euros with an audio guide. Before you go, check the official website for the days and opening hours.
Cliffs of Ballycotton
The cliffs are not located in Cork, but they are a must-visit if you’re driving! They are about 40 km from the city. It’s very windy there, so bring a jacket. Also, if you have long hair, it’s a good idea to bring a hair tie to avoid getting tangled hair, haha.
St Anne’s Church
This is one of the oldest churches in the city, built between 1722 and 1726. You can visit its interior and even ring the bells. The church tower has 135 steps, and from the top, you'll have a great view of the city. It’s definitely a worthwhile visit!
It’s open every day of the year, but the opening hours vary by month. From November to February, it opens at 11 AM and closes at 3 PM (Monday to Saturday), and on Sundays, it opens at 11:30 AM. The entrance fee is 5 euros.
Blackrock Castle
If you want to visit a castle but can’t make it to Blarney, visit Blackrock. It is located in Cork itself, and the entrance fee is 20 euros. You’ll need to purchase the ticket in advance and book a time. To check the days and opening hours, visit the official website, https://www.bco.ie/visiting-bco/tickets/, before going.

Fitzgerald’s Park
Lastly, on the list of things to do in Cork, we have Fitzgerald’s Park. It’s full of trees and green spaces, making it an ideal spot for a picnic or a strategic break in the middle of the day.
