London is one of the most fascinating cities in Europe, and millions of people dream of visiting it! If you're planning a trip, consider yourself lucky! To help you make the most of your time in the city, I’ve put together a special list of 10 must-see places in London that you absolutely have to visit!
Just to give you a bit of context, London is the capital of England, which, together with Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, forms the United Kingdom. The currency used in these countries is the pound sterling, and the official language is English. Now, let’s dive into the list of 10 must-see places in London!
Must-see places in London
Guys, London is a huge city with hundreds of amazing places to explore. That’s why I recommend setting aside at least four full days to really enjoy everything it has to offer.
Buckingham Palace
I'll start the list of must-see places in London with one of the city's most iconic landmarks! The palace is the Queen’s official residence and a symbol of British royalty. It has 775 rooms, including 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, and 78 bathrooms.
From July to October, it's possible to visit the interior of Buckingham Palace, but only certain areas, such as The Queen’s Gallery, which holds various artworks by renowned artists; The Royal Mews, where you can visit the royal stables and see the horses and carriages; and The State Rooms, which allows visitors to explore the rooms used by the Queen during State ceremonies, a part of the garden, and access to a seasonal exhibition.
The ticket to visit all three areas mentioned above costs £49. Pricey, right? If you're on a budget or not that into this type of visit, you can choose to visit only "The State Rooms", which is the most interesting part, and pay £26.50.
Tower Bridge
Next on the list of must-see places in London is another iconic landmark. Tower Bridge is the most famous bridge in the city and one of the most photographed bridges in the world!
You can visit the inside of Tower Bridge, and tickets cost £10.60 (for adults). But honestly, in my opinion, the best part is admiring it from the outside, up close or from a distance, and that’s totally free!
You can include the Tower Bridge visit on the same day as Buckingham Palace. If you enjoy walking, you can go on foot and enjoy many other landmarks along the way. If walking isn’t your thing, just hop on the Tube.
Big Ben
Another postcard-worthy landmark that’s on the list of must-see places in London! It’s located very close to Buckingham Palace, approximately a 20-minute walk. So, my suggestion is to visit them on the same day. In the surroundings of Big Ben, you’ll also find Westminster Abbey.

Photo in the Telephone Booth
There are several booths scattered throughout the city. When you spot one, just get your phone ready and snap a picture. It’s that simple!
Science Museum
My list of must-see places in London wouldn’t be complete without the Science Museum! It’s one of the coolest museums in the city! The galleries cover topics like energy, space, and the human body, and it’s hands-on too, as it’s an interactive museum! It’s perfect for kids and adults alike, making it a great activity for the whole family.
It’s open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is located on Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London SW7 2DD. The nearest underground station is South Kensington. Admission is free for the permanent exhibitions, and there’s an additional charge for special exhibits.
Camden Town
Camden is one of the many districts of London. It’s a great place if you’re looking to do some shopping. If you're after keychains, magnets, and other souvenirs, this is the place, and it’s usually cheaper than buying in central London.
There are several markets and shops, so I recommend setting aside at least three hours to explore. At the end of your visit, you can grab something to eat, right next to the markets there’s a food court with trucks selling dishes from all over the world.

Ride a Bus
Another experience you must have when visiting London is riding the famous and original red double-decker buses. Just a heads-up: to ride them, you need to have an Oyster Card (the city’s transport card), as it's not possible to pay with cash.
British Museum
The most famous museum in the city! It features exhibitions about Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, and more, there, you’ll have access to two million years of history.
Admission is free and it’s open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum has accessible restrooms for wheelchair users, baby-changing facilities, a restaurant, and a coffee.

Walk Along the Banks of the River Thames
Yes, one of the must-see places in London that you need to experience is the River Thames. As you walk along its banks, you’ll come across several iconic landmarks, such as The Shard, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, and the Tate Modern museum.
London Eye
Finally, to wrap up the list of the 10 must-see places in London with a golden key, we have the most famous Ferris wheel in the world. It’s also known as the Millennium Wheel and was once the tallest in the world, though today there are taller ones, such as the High Roller in Las Vegas.
The ticket for adults costs £31 if bought on-site, or £25.50 if purchased online.

It is very close to Big Ben, less than a 10-minute walk. So, on the day you visit the Palace and Big Ben, be sure to add the London Eye to your itinerary as well.
